This is so good. "Connect" was my word last year, and it's still on my mind. I appreciate what you add to the "green flag" qualities about seeing and celebrating ethnicity. I feel like white people (of which I am one) sometimes try to connect with people of color by focusing on how we're all the same, or what we have in common, which isn't always necessarily helpful? (At least not if it erases or refuses to make room for our particularities and how our experiences of the world are different)
